Today we are making my family’s classic, quick and easy Irish Soda Bread recipe. This bread is more of a plain, crusty bread that you would serve with soup, stew, or alongside a meal. It was a staple in Irish cooking because it is very cheap to make, but filling and so delicious. I make it year round as a quick dinner bread, and it is always a winner. I am also including the recipe for my favorite sweet Irish soda bread with raisins that you would traditionally see around St. Patrick’s Day!

Place the ball of dough in the cake pan. Cut an X into the top. 6. Bake 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. 7. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and place on cooling rack. Serve warm or room temperature with softened butter and your favorite soup, stew, or meal.
