In a food processor, or with a knife, chop up the pecans into very small pieces.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the butter, 1/2 cup confectioners sugar, and 1/3 cup sugar.
Add in the salt and vanilla, and mix until combined.
Stir in the flour, and then the pecans.
Wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll the dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, and place 1 inch apart on a baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until puffed and slightly golden.
Let cool for 5 minutes on the sheet pan, and then roll in confectioners sugar.
Allow to cool on a wire rack.
