
As the weather cools down, there is nothing better than a big bowl of chili! Today we are giving the classic a healthy, flavorful twist: Turkey Sweet Potato Chili! This recipe is packed with lean protein, fiber, and an incredible depth of flavor. Best of all, it’s totally freezer friendly- meaning you can whip up a big batch now and have quick, cozy, healthy meals ready to go all season long!


Turkey Sweet Potato Chili
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 bell peppers, diced
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced into 1/4 inch cubes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 1/2 TBSP chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 28 ounces diced tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 tsp chipotle in adobo (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the turkey. Cook until browned.
- Add in onions and cook an additional 5 minutes. Add in the peppers, jalapeno, garlic, and sweet potatoes. Stir, and cook a few minutes more.
- Add in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. If too thick, add 1/2 cup water.
- Turn down the heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are cooked through.
