Today we are making my classic glazed donuts! They are so unbelievably soft, light, and airy, with a perfectly sweet, sticky glaze. I know donuts can be a little intimidating, but I promise they can be super easy to make! There is nothing better than a donut fresh out of the fryer, and I am here to show you how to get perfect donuts every time!

Ingredients
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 2 and 1/2 to 3 cups all purpose flour
- oil for frying
- Glaze:
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow the yeast to bloom. 2. Add in the milk, sugar, salt, egg, and butter. Mix to slightly combine. 3. With the dough hook on mixer, slowly add in the flour while mixing. Continue to mix, adding in a little more flour if the dough is still very sticky, or until the dough starts to come clean from the sides of the bowl. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap and a dish towel. Let rise for about 2 hours, or until doubled in size. 5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut out donut shapes, and using a pairing knife, cut a small slit in the center to form the hole. 6. Reroll the dough scraps as needed. Place a dish towel over the cut donuts to rest while the oil is heating up, about 10 minutes. 7. Heat the oil to 375 degrees in a deep skillet or pot. Fry the donuts for about 1 1/2-2 minutes per side. Drain on a wire rack. 8. To make the glaze, combine the sugar, milk, and vanilla. Dip the warm donuts in the glaze and place back on the wire rack to drip and dry.
