Caramelized Onion & Bacon Dip

Sweet, golden caramelized onions, smoky bacon, and creamy gruyere cheese make this dip a crowd pleaser! Serve with toasted bread slices or chips.

- 5 strips bacon
- 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 1/2 cups gruyere cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- pinch fresh black pepper
In a large skillet, cook the bacon until golden. Remove, crumble, and set aside.
Turn the heat down to medium low and add the onions into the same skillet.
Sprinkle with sugar and salt. Stir to combine, and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until golden and caramelized.
Stir in fresh thyme and cook an additional minute.
In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, and pinch of black pepper. Stir in the bacon, onions, and gruyere cheese.
Transfer to a small, greased casserole dish. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
