Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cubed
  • For the Marinade:
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup cooking wine
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • For the Batter:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • For the Honey Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine the marinade ingredients in a bowl. Place the cubed chicken breast in a large bowl or bag. Pour marinade over the top. Cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. 2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, water, egg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix well. Drain chicken from marinade. 3. Heat the oil in large pot to 350 degrees F. Coat the chicken pieces in the batter, and using a fork, drain off the excess and place right into hot oil. Fry in batches, about 4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a sheet pan lined with towels. 4. To make the honey sauce, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Whisk, cooking for about 3-4 minutes or until thickened and simmering. 5. Once the chicken is done frying, toss in the honey sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with rice and vegetables.
